As winter draws in, LDCF joined Tim Farron and 1,000 others to stand up for those fleeing Syria to find safety and say "refugees are welcome here".
While the news moves on, the Syrian refugee crisis gets worse and worse. Over 8 million people have been internally displaced, another 4 million are in camps in neighbouring countries and dangerous winter weather draws ever closer.
The UK Government has announced a plan to resettle 20,000 Syrian refugees over the next 5 years. Last night LDCF joined Tim Farron and 1,000 others from Citizens UK to tell our Government that this is too low, too slow and too narrow.
Lit by candlelight and shivering the cold, we remembered the six Syrian refugee children who died last winter and we heard people of different and no faiths call the Prime Minister to resettle 1,000 Syrian refugees before Christmas.
In a moving rally call, Tim Farron spoke up for those fleeing for their lives as he said “You do not cling to the bottom of a truck if you are looking for an easy life…we, as a community, say refugees are welcome here!”.
