MPs debate the housing sell-off and LDCF goes on air!

Yesterday, MPs went into the Commons to debate plans to sell-off social and affordable homes for the first time. Just before they did, Sarah Dickson (Director of the Liberal Democrat Christian Forum) went on air to encourage UCB Radio listeners to get involved with LDCF’s most recent campaign for secure, decent and affordable homes.

Here’s what she said.

During the debate, Tim Farron spoke up for those who suffer daily from the housing crisis as he said: “access to housing is fundamental to our liberties, our opportunities, and our hopes for the future; that applies to every person here. We therefore need a positive vision for housing that meets existing needs and gives security to the most vulnerable.”

Despite Liberal Democrat MPs uniting in their opposition to Tory sell-off plans and voting them down, Conservative MPs successfully voted them over this first hurdle.

As they continue to pass through Parliament, the Liberal Democrat Christian Forum will keep the pressure on through their campaign, Our Housing Crisis. Join in by sharing experiences of the housing crisis and signing the petition
