A message from Sarah Dickson, Director of the Liberal Democrat Christian Forum
The Liberal Democrat Party has always had a foundation in the Christian faith. There were strong links between the non-conformist churches in the early twentieth century and the then Liberal Party. Currently, a large number of our MPs and Peers are practising Christians. In fact, twelve of our Christian Parliamentarians have spoken out about how their faith shapes their political engagement in the book LDCF published last year, Liberal Democrats Do God.
Faith is alive and kicking in the Liberal Democrat Party and the party's values resonate strongly with those at the heart of Christianity. Freedom, Equality and Justice form the foundation on which the Liberal Democrats stand and this is why, for many of us, being a Christian has led us to get involved in the Liberal Democrat Party.
It is my hope and prayer that the following pages on the resource linked below will help you get to know the Liberal Democrats a bit better and see how the values of the Liberal Democrat Party resonate with Christianity, as well as find out about our vision and policies for the future.

Almost 75% of the world’s population live in countries with high levels of government restrictions on freedom of religion or belief. In many of these countries people are killed or tortured because of their faith.
Freedom of religion is a human right, as outlined in Article 18 of the UNCHR. That’s the freedom to choose religion, change religion or hold no religion.
Help us to make the liberal voice of religious tolerance and peace louder.

How would you feel if you had to flee your home for fear of persecution, risked everything to travel to another country in the hope of safety, only to arrive and be detained, often without explanation or any indication of when you may be released?
We are calling on the Government to end this inhumane practice. We need you to make our voice stronger. Sign our petition below so, together, we can fight for a just and compassionate society.38 signatures
LDCF are calling upon the Government to end the indefinite detention of asylum seekers and immigrants.
Today around 3,000 people are being held in Immigration Detention Centres. They have not received a charge or a trial and they have no idea when they'll be released.
This is not democratic. This is not just.
